Paul Hamlyn Foundation appoints Moira Sinclair as director

Sinclair to take up role in February
The Paul Hamlyn Foundation (PHF) has appointed Moira Sinclair as its new director. Sinclair, who is currently the arts council’s executive director for London and the south-east, will join the foundation in February next year.

Sinclair is also the vice chair of Look Ahead Care and Support, an organisation that helps vulnerable people to live independently, and has just completed a term as a governor of the University of Lincoln.

The PHF is an independent grant-making foundation that aims to improve quality of life for children, young people and disadvantaged groups. It currently runs grant programmes in the arts, education and social justice, and has provided extensive funding to museums and galleries towards community engagement work.

Sinclair will take over ahead of the publication of the foundation’s new five-year strategy, which will be launched in spring 2015.

Sinclair said: “The trustees of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation have set a really compelling vision for the next five years, one that builds the mission to help people to realise their potential and enjoy a better quality of life, now and in the future.

"It’s a mission which is very close to my heart, and the chance to help achieve it and the mix of work that the foundation supports in arts, education and social justice is just too hard to resist.”

PHF chairwoman Jane Hamlyn said: “I am delighted that Moira Sinclair has agreed to join PHF. She will bring a breadth of knowledge and experience across the arts and education to help us to implement our new strategy. Her strong commitment to social justice reflects the foundation’s own values.”
