Technological developments discussed at Cardiff 2014

Free MP workshop programme and demonstrations for delegates and visitors
New technology was a strong theme running through the exhibition programme of MP workshops and on-stand demos in Cardiff.

There were 59 demonstrations by 16 different suppliers over the two-day Museums Association Conference and Exhibition, including Lucky Dip AV Interpretation from Centre Screen Productions, the Europeana Food and Drink project by Collections Trust and MyMuseum by Beware & Card4B.

Visitors and delegates also had the opportunity to see demos of a water leak detection system from Thermocable Flexible Elements.

There were also 24 MP workshops taking place in the exhibition floor, exploring digital issues such as mobile apps, augmented reality, location technologies and digital asset management.

Other workshops discussed branding, financial resilience and lighting framed art and display cases.

Discussing the workshops on Twitter, @TempeMariaNell said: “@TalkingStatues a popular choice @ #museums2014 @kidsinmuseums - QR codes more popular than URLs.”

And @siobhanmcguigan said: “@haleysharpe really interesting workshop today on Stonehenge, great to hear the behind the scenes story #museums2014”
